Top 5 of the indoor activites

July 2021
A rainy day pops up in your weather app and you have no idea what to do that day? Here are a few hints of what you can do to enjoye that day anyway!
Summer Meribel Les 3 Vallées Holiday tips

TOP 5 OF INDOOR ACTIVITIES

1. Go sweat a bit at the Parc Olympique (Olympic Park)

The Olympic Park, created for 1992's Olympics, hosts many activities for the rainy - or hot - days.

- The swimming-pool: a 25m-long pool with racing lines, a paddling pool, a water slide and, depending on the schedule: aquagym, aquabike and even diving! And when the weather is nice, you can get a tan on the outside deckchairs. You can even grab a bit from restaurant Cantine d'Alvar just by the swimming-pool! WARNING: the swimming-pool will be closed during summer season 2022!

- The ice rink: that is the one which hosted the 1992's Olympics! Come challenge your balance with your friends and family.

- The climbing wall: if you have your equipment and that the Mountain guides are not using it, you are free to climb this 14m-high wall, located at the upper entrance of the Olympic Park, to the left.

- The fitness area: rowing devices, elliptical trainers, weight bench... come to exercise under the supervision of a professional.

2. Go bowling

Still at the Olympic Park, Meribel's bowling is one of the most appreciated venue during a rainy day and for a good reason, everyone finds something to do! Watching the greatest sport events on a giant screen, playing video games and, of course, bowling on one of the dedicated 6 tracks!

3. Pamper yourself at the spa

Meribel hosts numerous spas. Besides the one at Olympic Park, hotels Kaila, Helios, Savoy or Eterlou have quality spas to forget about the bad weather.

4. Go see a movie

Meribel has 2 cinema: one at the auditorium in Meribel centre, the other one in Mottaret. Film are shown every day at 6pm and 9pm and an additional session is held at the middle of the afternoon in case of rain.

5. Have a cultural day

If you wish to add a bit of culture to your holiday program, here are a few suggestions in the valley:

- visit the sawmill in le Raffort and the watermill in la Gittaz. This tour can be made by yourselves on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, thanks to the interpretation modules on site. A great way to better understand these industrial heritage sites and the role of water in its operation.

Les Allues Museum retraces the history of the valley: traditions that were pacing the locals' life before skiing developped and changed everything. Objects and documents are in display to recall this former agriculture-based life.

- still in Les Allues, by the museum, do not hesitate to have a look at St Martin church. Its Baroque interior is worth visiting, particularly  the well-worked altarpiece, just like the picture-perfect Chapel Notre-Dame-des-Neiges in Mussillon.

the House of the Reserve, located along Tueda's lake, displays a diversity of local fauna and flora. Exhibitions and entertainments are regularly proposed.

- in Tueda, do not hesitate to go taste Beaufort cheese as you pay a visit to Mr Perret's farm.
